legal aid 60 years

Sixty years of legal aid

Visit our touring exhibition

An exhibition about legal aid is coming to a town near you.

We all know that more and more people are needing help and advice on matters like debt, housing and employment.

People have a limited knowledge of legal aid, what it applies to and how it can help. We must improve people's awareness of legal aid.

If this exhibition means only 2 more people seek legally aided advice that prevents them being evicted, it will have proved its worth.

Did you know

Legal aid helps over 2 million people each year.

Before the establishment of legal aid - the first way of helping people with civil legal problems was to identify them as 'poor persons'. This process was introduced in 1914 and applied to the High Court and Court of Appeal only.
